Rothko has featured in my artistic language since I read 'On the Road' by Jack Kerouac in 1971. I was happy that his work became fashionable in the 1990's.

I began to revisit Rothko's work in the mid-90's following the exhibition at the Tate. I was also traveling around Europe seeking out work by him, my favourites are in the Stuttgart Art museum. I look forward to seeing MOMA.

Three Nuns in a row

Inspired by Motherwell's Elegy series about the fall of Spain. I recently went to Sydney and the opera house reminded me of this painting.
